WSQ Workplace Trainer Programme (WTP)

WSQ Workplace Trainer Programme (WTP)

The WSQ Workplace Trainer Programme (WTP) is a 47-hour competency-based training programme, designed specifically for workplace supervisors, line-leaders and managers who also perform the role of a trainer. It aims to equip workplace trainers with the competence to effectively deliver workplace training and conduct assessment at their workplaces.

WTP tailors to the unique training design of workplace trainers’ operations. Workplace trainers will learn to create simple tools for training and assessment such as the workplace learning plans and assessment checklist to facilitate learners’ transfer of learning back to the workplace. In this latest revamped version of WTP, WSQ workplace trainers will conduct assessment based on the accredited assessment plan, while the non-WSQ in-house trainers will translate their intended learning outcomes into observation checklists and oral questions, similar to WSQ assessment plans, for the purpose of evaluating the performance of their trainees.

There is a stronger emphasis on workplace learning where authentic workplace-based learning is woven into the delivery of the course and graduates will be able to deliver higher quality training to benefit their workplace learners.

The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) offers WTP to corporate and public-sponsored learners. If you are interested in the programme, please speak to our Customer Service Officer at 6883 5885 or email us at info@ial.edu.sg.

How is the Revamped WTP different?

  • Individualised Workplace Coaching

The adoption of learner-centric facilitation, coaching sessions to review and fine-tune their practice at the workplaces and rigorous assessment practices will be carried out to ensure that the learners will be able to apply their learning back to their respective workplace contexts. As training and assessment expertise are highly complex skills, which can only be honed through deliberate practice, these skills cannot merely be glossed over in class discussion. Learners will slowly gain confidence through successful practices during coaching sessions based on their real work content, right from the beginning of the course all the way through to the end.

  • Work-based Content

WTP learners will be guided to translate their work-based content which they have delivered in class during this first module, WP1: Facilitate Workplace Learning, into a workable assessment plan of which they could use to assess their workplace learners. This would help WTP learners to see the alignment between training and assessment at the workplace.

  • Authentic / Simulated Workplace Setting

WTP graduates can confidently assume the role of a workplace trainer or workplace coach and assessor as they are equipped to deliver the training and conduct assessment at their workplaces. Training, coaching and assessment sessions will be largely conducted at learners’ workplace or a simulated workplace setting.

Programme Aims
WTP is designed for workplace supervisors, line-leaders and managers, who perform the role of a trainer as part of their job role and responsibilities. The programme aims to tailor to the unique training design of workplace trainers’ operations. Workplace trainers will be guided to create simple tools for training and assessment such as the ‘Workplace Learning Plans’ and ‘Assessment Checklist’ in order to facilitate learners’ transfer of learning back to the workplace.

In particular, WTP aims to:

  • Develop workplace trainers who are adept in facilitating learning to their workplace learners using their own work-based content

Learners will learn to contextualise their workplace procedures into ready-to-implement workplace learning and assessment plans. WTP graduates would be able to deliver high quality training and assessment that is highly contextualised to their workplace learning needs so as to benefit their workplace learners.

  • Develop competent workplace trainers and assessors

WTP graduates can confidently assume the role of a workplace trainer and assessor as they are equipped to deliver the training and conduct assessment at their workplaces. WSQ workplace trainers are able to conduct assessment based on an accredited assessment plan whilst non-WSQ workplace learners are able to translate their intended learning outcomes into observation checklists or oral questions, similar to WSQ assessment plans for the purpose of evaluating the learning and performance of their trainees
